Flow Measurements and Surface Water Studies: RMEA frequently conducts surface water studies for a variety of clients, from small property owners who need to have their stream flow or irrigation flows measured, to large-scale evaluations of surface water and groundwater hydrology, sometimes involving entire watersheds. A particularly notable project is the Big Lost River Darlington Sinks Project, which RMEA is conducting for Trout Unlimited. This project, which nearing completion as of winter 2008, involves a detailed surface water and groundwater study of a portion of the Big Lost River. The study is focused on determining the spatial and temporal controls on gaining and losing reaches of the river. The project also includes fluvial geomorphic mapping and the development of design remedies to reduce losses through critical stretches, to the benefit of the local fishery. |
